Eyes Wide Open

As promised, here are some pictures with open eyes. :) My son:

 And for good measure, some pics of the girl. Poor thing. I haven't taken a lot of pics of her in the last months due to all the craziness going on. I'm loving having her home... My daughter:

 And you put my son and my daughter together? You get the first trip to the grocery store with two kiddos! Naomi was so excited to ride in the car for the first time ever as well. It's a good thing I didn't need very much. Oh, why are not all grocery carts carseat friendly?

Funny and Sweet Moments...

We discovered that Naomi apparently prefers to not eat peas unless they have a little butter on them.

 A close-up for my mom... we're all still trying to figure out who he looks the most like!

 Saturday morning hang out on the couch.

 At the time, I thought this was sweet because Naomi kept doing her little monkey noise.

Now it just looks a little creepy! My favorite is the pacifier. Classic.

 "Umm... excuse me, teacher?

 I know I'm sleeping, but I have a question..."

 And one more angle just because it's that hilarious.

 But even with all the funny and sweet moments, life is not perfect. That precious little girl in the picture frame? Yeah. She threw that very hard apple at her brother's head today. God help us as we teach our children to love one another - an act that does not involve throwing fruit. :)

We are having such a fun time getting to know our sweet little guy. I'll try and get some pics here soon with his eyes open... he's just such a good sleeper!

Our Sweet Girl is TWO!!!

And it all started with a birthday donut...

Yesterday, my baby turned two. But she certainly doesn't look like a baby anymore, that's for sure. :( Legs crossed at the ankle and all...

We passed on the party this year. Just opted for presents, 

balloons,

and special colossal cupcakes! 

(*I figured being 12-days postpartum was enough of an excuse to not make my child's birthday cake this year.)

One special part of the celebration was having Grant's mom and stepdad in town for the weekend! But Sullivan decided to just sleep the festivities away, despite having guests.

And the tissue paper was a HUGE hit.

But the big gift of the day involved a pink helmet!

I was surprised at how much she liked wearing it right off the bat.

Sullivan didn't care.

But the BIKE! Oh, the bike!

We got Naomi a Strider bike. If you haven't seen these things, you've got to YouTube or Google it. They are so cool! Grant discovered them years ago and he has been dreaming of this day since Naomi was born. 

The whole point is to train kiddos early about balance with a small bike minus pedals. My niece had one and transitioned straight from this to a "big girl" bike, skipping training wheels altogether. 

Naomi surprised me so much though - tooling around the house right away! I wondered if she was still a little young for it, but apparently not!

After a few laps around the house, we tackled the street for a bit. She had so much fun and we can't wait to see her get better at it.

We wrapped the festivities up with new bath crayons from Nana

and special story time with her too. 

Naomi, we love you. You have changed our lives forever and we are thrilled to watch this third year of your life. You have such a sweet and kind spirit that blesses us daily. You also have a streak of independence and determination that we are sure will keep us on our toes in the years to come! We thank the Lord daily for the gift you are in our lives... happy birthday!
