Unpause!

I guess somebody prayed and it worked! I used some duck tape and now Grant's computer is up and running! We'll see how long it lasts... Naomi and I are just hanging out today. G has been gone to Coffee Fest in Chicago since Thursday morning and it has been sooo quiet around here. Missing him lots and can't wait until he gets back tomorrow morning! Until then, we are trying out fun new things like the baby's booster chair. Thanks to my incredibly practical friend, Kristin Zeeb, we did not spend money on a clunky high chair for the kitchen. This booster is the extent of what we need and it works great! I don't have to wipe down a messy high chair, not to mention have one taking up space in the kitchen. Back to homework...

Blog Pause

Well, we have bad luck with our computers for sure. My laptop died a few months ago and now we cannot get Grant's laptop to start. Sigh. Hence, there might be some days here where the blog receives little attention. Shoot up a prayer for us that his computer works soon!

Little Miss Chubbette

Naomi had her six-month appointment today with our new family doctor - whom we LOVED. She did wonderfully, weighing in at 20 pounds, 7 ounces (97%). She was 26 inches long (75%) and her head was 42cm in circumference (50%). The doctor was pleased with her on all levels and said we should probably brace ourselves for an early crawler, which we had already assumed! He affectionately nicknamed her "Little Miss Chubbette," claiming that those michelin thighs prove that she loves her life, loves her parents, and is growing exactly as she should. We topped off the wonderful visit with the sting of her first two immunization shots, hence the tuckered out ride home... :( Sweet thing.

Weekend Pics

We had a great weekend, busy painting our bedroom and cleaning up all the dust that the guys have been stirring up with the construction downstairs. Before and after pics are coming soon, and we expect to be in our space this week! We are SOOO excited.
Here are some cute pics of Nay last night before bedtime. Last night was the night we decided to let her cry it out - she has been getting up multiple times from losing her paci and about once to eat. We braced ourselves to hear her cry around 2/3 and to our surprise, she lost her paci at 2, I gave it to her, and we didn't hear from her until 8am! 9pm-8am - I can deal with that!
Yeah! Naomi slept for 11 hours straight!
Sweet pic in new jammies from Mimi.
This weekend, I also finished the bible verse above her bed and the little yellow thing is a bird sitting on the text from Zephaniah 3:17, "...He will rejoice over you with singing, He will quiet you with His love..."

GREEN BEANS

Naomi was going to town so much on her cereal this weekend that we thought we'd start her on a vegetable. All they had at the store we went to were green beans - cruel introduction if you ask me!
The funny thing was that she'd gag and make faces, but once it was swallowed, she would pant and "ask" for more, opening her mouth for another go at it! Squash is up next!
And, no, my child does not have two front teeth. Hahaha - we laughed at this picture so much because of the reflection on her tongue. A picture of what's to come!

Some Firsts

First balloon!
On a trip to Red Robin, Naomi couldn't take her eyes off of a little girl's balloon at the next table over. So Grant hopped right on up and took care of that daddy responsibility! She loved it.
First movie!
Baby Einstein's Noah DVD has made its way into our lives. Naomi is fascinated by all the puppets and the pictures and new words. It's amazing to me that when the television is on just a random channel, she doesn't pay attention at all. But the moment that Baby Einstein music comes on, she'll turn straight toward the screen! We sure start them early! Lol...

Time with the fam...

We had some amazing time with our family this last weekend, though it was too rushed and short! Naomi loooooves her Mimi and Grandaddy! She loves her other grandparents too - we just forgot to take pictures with them! Oops!
Hanging out with sweet cousin Lillian... getting some cousin love!
Teaching each other how the world is:
Aunt Lindsay, hurry it on up! These two want to meet their third amiga!

Speechless.

The musical was INCREDIBLE. Wait. Scratch that. My brother was INCREDIBLE. The play was great, but he was AMAZING. I wish there had been a video camera on the faces of my entire family as we sat, stunned speechless, over the talent that he exhibited this last weekend. In case you missed a couple of posts ago, my brother was Gaston in his high school musical last weekend. He truly was unreal. He has never been in a production before, so to have this be his first role ever was so impressive. He had such a clear, booming, gorgeous stage voice that filled the room. He caused a standing ovation Saturday night at the closing performance. I have been on cloud nine for days. I've also been singing Beauty and the Beast songs in my sleep. :)
Gaston and Belle after the final night. She was wonderful as well, but I'm sorry - didn't hold a candle!
I love this picture of Annie (my niece) looking at Belle. My brother said to her, "Can you say hi, Annie?" She quietly said under her breath, "Hi, Belle." It was so sweet. You just know in her little mind she was really meeting the "Beauty."
I snuck this photo below during Gaston's first appearance on stage. Gosh, I wish I could watch it again! If you would like to see a little clip of how wonderful he was, click on the link below. It's about a six-minute long clip with an interview of Will and another cast member. Make sure to watch the whole thing because there are a couple of really good samples of his singing. If you can't tell, I'm so proud I can't stand it!

Nursery Pictures!

After six months of waiting, I have finally gotten to do my baby nesting! We have relocated states twice since I was eight months pregnant, so my nesting urges were actually filled through packing boxes instead of setting up Naomi's room. And I have been itching to create her a space since I found out we were having her! It's not entirely finished yet, as you can see by the lamp with no shade... ha! I am also going to attempt to make my first slipcover for her glider soon, so the fabric is just draped over it right now. I chose yellow and green after the tulip bedding I found and thought it might break up all of the pink that has already taken over in clothing and toys!
Right when you walk in the door, there is a hall tree with my mother's baby gown, my baby gown, and Naomi's.

I am also planning on painting a verse above the baby's crib - a project I will tend to only after I complete my next paper for school! Self-control, Sarah, self-control!
The sweet little tenant!

All Caught Up

Naomi flipped over from her back to her tummy for the first time this morning. Every day is something new! :) Just don't ask me how she flipped her leg over the activity mat pole!

I think we have a morning girl on our hands...

Just woke up from her nap! Hahaha...

No one's slick as Gaston!

This weekend, that dashing young man on the left, will appear as none other than the dashing Gaston himself.
Grant and I, and of course, Naomi, will be driving to Kansas City on Friday to see one of the year's hottest productions at Shawnee Mission East, Beauty and the Beast. Never having been in a show in his life, my little brother tried out for the musical this year and landed himself a leading role as Gaston! I am so excited to see this musical, I could just bust at the seams. I'm not sure if it's sold out or not, but if you live in the area, you should put your snowshoes on this instant and hike it out to SME to grab a ticket. He's going to be amazing!!!
