Little Cousin, Big Cousin

Believe it or not, the title of this post reflects the respectively positioned cousins pictured here. Naomi is the little cousin on the left, born July 27th. Lillie is the big cousin on the right, born July 23rd. This is the girls' first pic together! So fun to finally get this shot... they have been so anxious to meet each other these last couple of months!! We love you, little ones!

Ooooh, Sophie...

Our baby loooooves her Sophie. A generous purchase from Naomi's Mimi, Sophie is a precious giraffe who has found a spot in our lives for many days to come. Last Saturday, our little family took a driving trip out to Louisville. I whipped out this fun little teething toy for our girl on the way and she was absolutely smitten. Naomi was, not the giraffe.
Some french monsieur invented this giraffe in 1961, apparently appeasing all five senses of little ones. You can smell her, chew her, hold her, stare at her spots, and listen to her squeak! She's not cheap at $20, but she sure does work! If you know a baby or have one yourself, run out right now and get one - Naomi giggled all the way to Kentucky!

Chunky Lil' Monkey

My sweet little girl is just growing like a weed. I love it. She weighed 13 pounds yesterday on my parent's home scale! Not that that's off the charts or anything. It's just such an amazing process to watch her all of a sudden not fit into that cute striped outfit in the picture. Those were pants on her last week. :)

Fun, Busy Saturday

We had a long day out today with Naomi! We have taken her to different places here and there, but this was kind of the first day we did one thing after another. It was fun, but she sure is sleeping well right now! Above is a pic with Davis, the Spykerman's boy... if you could zoom in, you'd capture their matching pacifiers. :)
We walked around the Overland Park Arboretum with Kevin and Susan and the babies. It was a beautiful day and fun to see a place in KC neither Grant nor myself had ever been to before.
After a quick run home, we then went to watch the bris for our other friend's baby, Judah. A bris is the Jewish ceremony where circumcision is performed on the eighth day by a mohel (a man trained to perform the procedure, usually a rabbi). It was a special ceremony to attend!
After Judah's bris, we headed back to my parent's for family dinner night. Nay was especially cheery, just smiling away for the camera.
We had so much fun. Annie even taught Naomi a life lesson. Lol.

First Football Games!

What better football game to inaugurate a lifetime of sporting events to be had than that of your very own uncle? Naomi's Uncle Will is a senior at Shawnee Mission East and we have had a blast going to his first three games of the (undefeated, might I add) season this year. Grant is looking mighty dapper in this classic dad photo:

Aaaand, on to the second game. Must have been old hat to her. *Sidenote - most of all three games she has slept straight through the loud screaming after touchdowns! I plug her ears, don't worry - but this child surely is her daddy's girl!

Lillie Is Home!!!

Talk about a post to warm the heart... our neice, Lillian is home from the NICU! In case you didn't read earlier, she was born 4 days before Naomi, at around 29-weeks gestation. She is a FIGHTER, I tell you, soaring through her first weeks of life, impressing all around with her progress and adaptation as a preemie. She's just awesome. Today, my brother and his wife got to bring their baby home! We are thrilled for them. Please pray for an easy transition for them and for seamless, healthy days ahead for sweet Lillie. We decorated the house with a banner and balloons to welcome the sweet pea home. We love you, Lillian!
